LEADERBOARD GOLF BY: MISTER "X" Okay, in this doc, I will attempt to explain three things: 1.) How to make the 'key' so you can play Leader Board 'til someone cracks it. 2.) Explain how to play Leader Board. 3.) Tell how to load the Tourney disk. Okay, so you've unshrunk Leader Board okay, but it won't load. We need to make a 'key' out of an old Atari only type joystick and keep it in joystick port two the whole game. Take an old, non-working Atari joystick if possible (otherwise you'll have to ruin a good one) and get some wire cutters and strippers ready. NOTE: make sure it is an Atari joystick! All set? Good, now cut the black wire of the joystick (the part that goes from the joystick to the male connector). Cut it all the way thru, leaving 4 inches from the male connector. Now strip an inch of the black wire away (this should reveal six colored wires). Spread the six wires apart. Cut off all of those little wires except for white, blue, and black. Now strip those three. Connect the black, blue, and white ones together and then twist. Voila! Now insert your key into port two and boot the game. If you get the title screen then it worked. If it did not work, TRY AGAIN, strip some more wire and try again or check your connections. If it did work, take some black electrical tape and wrap up the exposed white, black, and blue wires. Remember to keep the key in the duration of the game Playing Leader Board is rather difficult at first. You only need one joystick in port one to play. Use these few commands at the title screen: 'T' allows you to enter the time. 'D' shows a demo of the game. 'R' not sure, appears to start a game. 'P' once again, not sure. Hit the esc key during the game to return to the title screen. At the title screen is obvious, I won't be a schmuck and explain it, that would only make this doc longer. Tips on playing: Under the time is a wind reading. This is a poor way of Leader Board showing us which way it blows and how hard, but we have to cope with it. There is usually a vertical line pointing north, the other line is pointing the direction of the wind (tricky at first). When reading the greens, the same readings for the wind appears to the left of the pin, except it stands for the slope of the green (let's not be stupid folks, if you are putting uphill, hit the ball an extra 5-15 feet!). So far, I think the putting distance chart's bars indicate 10 feet. Hmmm....other tips might include holding the button down and keeping it down to get the maximum power out of a shot, then when the bar on the left comes down, try to press the button when it arrives in the middle to get the straightest shot off. I myself find it easier to play a draw (hook it a little). Club distances: if you're a golfer you should already have a good general idea, but..... I tried to put the maximum yardage. 1W - 260+ 3W - 250 5W - 230 PW - 90 9I - 120 8I - 130 7I - 150 6I - 165 5I - 180 4I - 190 3I - 200 2I - 210 1I - 220 You get a one stroke penalty for hitting the ball out of bounds or in the water. Sometimes the ball will land on the red/brown part (between the fairway and water) and since the computer can not do this shot (due to a lack of programming, hehehe) you get to retake your shot. Leader Board Tournament Disk #1 Contains four new 18 hole courses for use with your Leader Board Golf To use the tournament disk, do the following: 1. Load and run Leader Board in normal manner. 2. When the "Select number of players" screen is displayed, remove the Leader Board game disk. 3. Insert the Tournament disk into the drive. 4. While holding down the shift key, press (RETURN). The new courses will be loaded into memory, overwriting the exist- ing courses. NOTE: To reload the original courses, repeat the pro- cedure from step 3 using the game disk instead of the tournament disk. This doc provided by the one, the only, Mister X
